The Upbeats (Virus, Renegade Hardware, BC Presents)

A drum & bass színtérre 2004-ben berobbanó Upbeats debütáló albumukkal (The Upbeats) rövid időn belül állandó helyet bérelt magának a vezető lemezlovasok táskájában. Azóta a sötét stílus legmeghatározóbb kiadóit tudhatják maguk mögött: Renegade Hardware, BC Presents, Project51 valamint Ed Rush és Optical Virusának katalógusában is megtalálhatjuk az új-zélandi arcok zenéit.

A több mint 7 éve tartó barátság Glenn és Jones között a stúdióban egyedi hangzássá forrta ki magát. Zenéikben a funk hatások mellett energikus, sötét döngető ütemek mutatkoznak meg, amelyek nem kis borulást okoznak a tánctereken.

Eközben turnéznak is, Amerika, Európa és Ausztrália is megtapasztalhatta a srácokat élőben turnék, fesztiválok és egyéb rendezvények kereteiben. Útjaik során a szcéna legnevesebb alakjai mellett pörgethették lemezeiket, mint például Andy C, Dieselboy, Concord Dawn vagy a Bad Company, csak hogy néhány két lábon járó legendát említsünk.

A két albumuk közötti hároméves szünet alatt sem hanyagolták a produceri munkát. Miközben a Noisia srácokkal és Mayhem-el kollaboráltak, remixet készítettek a szintén új-zélandi Shapeshifter 'Bring Change' nótájából, azok szép sikereket arató Soulstice albumára.

2007 szintén jó évnek bizonyul a duó számára. Már a boltokban a Gridlok és Echo-val közös 'Flamethrower' valamint a Bulletproof és Optiv 'Camouflage' cimű darabjának Upbeats átértelmezése.

A fellépések pedig nyáron is folytatódnak! Csakúgy, mint a tavalyi Szigetes bulin, ismét a Mokka Cuka vendégeiként próbálják meg überelni a múlt évi őrületet. Nem lesz könnyű dolguk - aki ott volt tudja miért.
