THE REQUIREMENTS OF IGGY POP
EXIT hosts many great stars, and great stars, needless to say, have great demands. As is customary for all the festivals and concerts, the manager sends beforehand a rider-list. A rider list is a list of all the things required by an artist in order for him/her to feel comfortable at a certain place. This year’s EXIT will host Iggy Pop, a great rock star, who sent the most interesting rider list to us, so far. In his funny style, Iggy asked for pizzas, sandwiches, beer (he is willing to try some of the local ones as well), but also someone who would do Bob Hope impersonations for him. Whether the impersonation of this famous American film star, not so well known in our country, necessary requirement or just one of Iggy’s jokes, is not yet known. However, EXIT team did not have such a bad luck – it is said that, for a Ukrainian music festival, Iggy sent a rider asking seven dwarfs to stand in a line between the stage and the backstage, complete with the astonishing Snow-white. Iggy Pop also required various kinds of tea (he likes to try everything), gallons of coffee and the whole 15 kilogram bucket of ice. He would like to taste some of our food specialties and his menu can include beef, on condition that it healthy. With his dinner, Iggy would like to taste some French wine, but he is not certain of their name, he is not sure of the pronunciation, but he claims they are terrific. He would like a combination of vegetarian and regular meals, and he notes that sausages are not vegetarian food (bad experience with misinformed Germans).
The stars generally require tropical fruit, water, beer, wine – “Jack” is almost obligatory. When they are met at the airport, they like to be welcomed by sandwiches and pizza, and before getting on the stage they like to have a “proper” meal. Most musician require vegetarian food. Tricky asked for kamut bread, camey peppers, lamb and fish, a special kind of salt. Asian Dub Foundation required watercolours and some sketching paper, beer and ginger juice, a brick of low-fat milk, jars of honey, chicken salami pizzas...
