Jimmy Edgar még csak húszéves, mégis Detroit legfigyelemreméltóbb tehetségeként emlegetik. Sajátos hangzásában számtalan műfaj keveredik, nem véletlen hát, hogy olyan legendás határsértőkhöz hasonlítják, mint Carl Craig, Prefuse 73 vagy Luke Vibert. Jimmy le sem tagadhatná, hogy a Motorcity utcáin nőtt fel, érezni lehet ezt minden kompozícióján. Gyökereit természetesen a nagybetűs FUNK jelenti, de kiindulópontjai a detroiti techno és hiphop, amiket alaposan egymásba olvaszt. A végeredménnyel a címkézésben verhetetlen szaksajtó is gondban van: a „future” jelzőben még mindenki egyetért, onnantól viszont teljes a káosz, és olyanok kerülnek elő, mint az ultra-ritmikus-electro, jövő-R&B, vagy borotvapenge-hiphop, esetleg ClickHop.
Jó érzékkel csapott hát le Jimmyre a jól ismert brit Warp Records, ahol második, Bounce Make Model című EP-je érkezik – európai turnéja is ennek beharangozója.

Fellépésének megadja a módját: live act-je mellett egy kíméletlen DJ szettre is fel kell készülnünk, melynek során a fent előfordult stílusok mellett játszik ’80-as évek electro-discot, örökbecsű Prince darabokat és funk alapvetéseket, new wave-et és jóféle hazai punkzenét, mindezt pedig saját vizuállal súlyosbítja. Nem túlzás kijelenteni, hogy az idei BTJ+ legérdekesebb és leginkább előremutató eseménye lesz ez, amelynek a Montreux Jazz Fest és a londoni Fabric közönsége után a Trafó klubberei is részesei lehetnek.
