First off apologies for last week's lack of show. For the second time essential building works scuppered the appearance of UTAH JAZZ in the studio. He will be in sometime in the future though. Gotta be quick though before he gets too big! I don't mean he's been hitting the lard butties but rather that with his Liquid V classic 'Done & Dusted' and his chilled out roller 'The Deep End' hitting the shops next month (as part of the hugely popular series of Liquid V Eps) he might be too busy gigging and being generally lauded by press and fans alike.
All lights are green again though so I thought I'd better make it a biggie. MC VERSE from CRUNCH RECORDINGS will be passing through Ministry towers and telling us all about what it's like to be one of the most versatile characters on the scene. Not only a damn fine MC who can be found all over the world espousing his lyrical skills he's also a very fine up and coming producer. His unique style of presenting releases sees him producing one side of a 12" and teaming up with other producers to provide the other. This has already brought forth the massive White Crow (with KEATON and probably my tune of the year so far) and future colabs include D-BRIDGE and BAD COMPANY UK (on promo in shops now!). He can also DJ but so I don't feel completely surplus to requirements I might see if he fancies laying down a few lyrics over a mix in the show.
'Well that sounds like a good show' I hear you say. 'Oh no no no' say I, 'That's not the end of it'. TC1 is a very competent DJ and part of a very successful partnership with STRESS LEVEL. Based up in Leeds it's a bit of a trek all the way down to London Town but he's done the decent thing and provided a damn fine mix for your listening pleasure. Check this for a tracklist: 1. Its me birthday Friday too and I'm off to France to celebrate so I'll be leaving next week's show in the more than capable hands of V Recrodings' MOSUS. A quick mention too for what I think will be one of the tunes of the year. DJ LEE & D-Kay's homage to WAX DOCTOR has really grabbed me by the balls. Its called WAX'D (forthcoming on METALHEADZ) and I can't stop listening to it! Keep a look out for it on promo, if you see a copy buy on sight! Full release in early september I believe.

No Ordinary Day at the Races
Smirnoff Experience heads to the south coast, for an exclusive event at Brighton’s Racecourse on 23 July 2005, with 3 rooms of music from truly original artists.

The Herbaliser have emerged from the studio and will be headlining the main room for an exclusive live performance of tracks taken from their forthcoming album, ‘Take London’. They will be supported by the legendary Keb Darge and Alice Russell who will be performing live backed by TM Juke. The Nextmen will be mixing up breaks, beats and basslines alongside Brighton’s very own Nostalgia 77 spinning some jazz-influenced, atmospheric hip hop tracks.
Renowned Brighton rockers British Sea Power will be showcasing material from their acclaimed second album - ‘Open Season’. The Paddingtons, an equally impressive act, best described as edgy, deep, soulful rock ‘n’ rollers who are currently recording their debut album for Poptones/Mercury with legendary producer Owen Morris (Oasis, Definitely Maybe), will be joined by pop rockers Morton Valence. A third room will be hosted by local promoters Stompa Phunk, featuring a live performance from The Infadels, a band difficult to pigeon-hole, their diverse musical influences ranging from punk, funk, dance and ska, to electro and blues. Local dance punks, Mula will also make a live appearance, welding together tight percussive grooves to soaring vocals and killer basslines. Brett Johnson and Serge Santiago will also be mixing up a tough set of deep house breaks and beats.
