A kezdetben jazzdobosként működő Jojo Mayer a breakbeat, a dub, a garage a dubstep vagy a drum’n’bass ritmusképleteit hozza élőben, és ezt ülteti át/bele Nerve névre hallgató zenekarával játszott, jazzközeli világba. A svájci dobos saját munkamódszerét és zenéjének műfaját fordított programozással készült realtime elektronikus zeneként jellemzi és a "mindenből a legjobbat" szemlélettel ötvözve játssza, improvizálja azt. Energiával teli előadásain a tört ritmusokkal nagy barátságban, elmosódó kezekkel hozza a sebesség és a technika táncbarát kettősét.
